So, for a few weeks now, my husband and I have been joking about making a blog about our cats. They have some pretty quirky habits, which entertain us endlessly. Well, I've finally made good on the jokes. And here's the blog.
I don't know if it will be any good, or if any one will read it, but here goes.
We have two cats; a one year old black male DSH named "Lieutenant Commander Data" and a 7 month old black female DSH named "Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero-One". We call them Data and Seven for short.
Both are rescue cats from our local Humane Society, and as responsible fur-parents they are both fixed, indoor-only cats, who have been micro-chipped. They are not declawed, as we believe it is an inhumane practice.
We first noticed that Data had strange taste in food when he stole a piece of steamed broccoli off of my plate during dinner one evening. Another time, when I was ill, my husband brought home crackers for my upset stomach. My very caring and sensitive kitty, Data, gently climbed into my arms, purred and then stole the cracker from my hand on the way to my mouth and ran out of the room with it.
He's a thief, and most times we won't let him get away with it, but occasionally (such as with the broccoli) we just allow it.
Seven really only wants to eat her dry food (we feed them Evo) but her play habits are weird enough to warrant a mention. She likes to play in water. We're looking for tiny sized rubber duckies for her. We discovered this when she wandered out of the bathroom, dripping wet. We assumed she'd fallen into the toilet, and figured she'd avoid it after that. We dried her off, and cleaned up the water around the toilet. Later, she came out wet again. We now keep the toilet closed, however I have to share my baths with her unless I close the bathroom door.
Oh, and you may have guessed it already, but my husband and I are Sci-fi geeks.
